transitions...

it is both with excitement and sadness that i report this news... i will be leaving my current position as Enrollment Counselor at the seminary for a position that is more along the path of my intended career. this event is truly bittersweet, because the seminary is the place that i've called home for the last two years. leaving home in pursuit of unknown adventures always comes with a mixture of anticipation and dread. although it took me a little while to make the decision to leave my current job, it was surprising that many people reacted to my decision in a rather knowing manner, i.e. "oh, i figured you'd take it." (a brief pause is in order so i can thank the important people in my life who patiently listened while i verbally processed my thoughts. you know you are.) anyway, this affirmation and support i've received from seminary staff and friends have made this transition much easier for me. it is great to know that i am going with the blessing of a community that has really shaped me.

one of the significant truths that hit me during my time of discernment is that God continues to be faithful in my life. once in a while, i have occassion to think back to my life and i never seem to get used to how blessed i am. i have been accepted to every institution to which i have applied, have been chosen for key internship programs, etc. the right opportunities have always come my way, and these opportunities have ensured that i'm taken care of, both materially and emotionally. the most remarkable thing about this is that these opportunities often come my way never of any thing that i had done. in most cases, it is only by God's grace that these opportunities are available to me. i hope this doesn't come across in a bad way... but this sometimes makes me feel like some sort of important person, or golden child. (i don't think there's a way to express that without sounding like a total narcissist). what i'm trying to say is that, i feel like these great opportunities that have come to me only by the grace of God seems to be puzzle pieces that will be instrumental in some greater purpose that God has for my life.

it's like the verse in Scripture... to those who much is given, much is required.
