26 in 26!

last year, i decided to write down and work towards 25 goals that i wanted to accomplish before i was no longer 25. clearly, there were some goals that i was not able to attain, but i guess the reality of life is that it is a work in progress, that we will achieve some goals but not others. this doesn't mean that we have failed, but that life changes, priorities change, and what was once something that was important to us may not be as important a few months later.

sometimes, we are challenged with new things that we have to divert your attention to, taking time and energy away from other things we have set out to do. the intent of these goals is to live my life more fully and to be more intentional about reaching out, making connections and developing authentic fellowship and community. i think, to a certain extent, i was able to keep that overall intent behind all the things i did this past year.

with that in mind, i have come up with my 26 goals while i'm 26! i know it's cheating, but i'll carry over some of the goals from last year that i still want to attain.

  1. Pay off my credit card debt
  2. Run a 10K
  3. Run a 10 miler
  4. Achieve target weight
  5. Take up yoga
  6. Watch "Casablanca"
  7. Learn how to ride a bike
  8. See 3 musicals I've never seen but have always wanted to
  9. Read 10 books I’ve never read
  10. Paint a self-portrait (or something)
  11. Secret Goal!
  12. Visit 5 new states
  13. Save 3 months’ worth of income
  14. Learn how to speak Korean
  15. Feel comfortable driving in DC/beltway traffic
  16. Take a dance class
  17. Go deeper in friendship/relationship with one acquaintance
  18. Try 10 new recipes
  19. Blog/write at least once a week
  20. Practice the sabbath regularly
  21. Give 5% of my income to charity (after tithing)
  22. Make a T-shirt quilt
  23. TBD
  24. TBD
  25. TBD
  26. TBD
i've left 5 goals to be determined because i know that life changes and sometimes new priorities/goals arise. i'll update them as new goals come to mind. for now, this is the list. here's to another year...
